Order a Hay Knife

A hay knife is the fastest, cleanest way to cut into a large round or square bale, no unrolling, no thawing, no wasted feed. Ours are built to be driven or pulled straight through compressed hay, and the blades are replaceable, so you're not buying a whole new tool every season.

About The Fine Twine Co.

Farmers Deserve a Supplier Who Actually Farms

The Fine Twine Co. started in 2002 with a simple idea. Owners Tony and Rick Kellen have spent decades in the field. They know what it costs when equipment goes down, when a bale breaks open in the rain, or when a crop starts from the wrong seed. That firsthand experience shapes every product we stock and every call we take.

Back in 2000, Tony and his father were weighing an ethanol-plant investment and looking hard at the custom baling business. That search led them to a net wrap dealer in Kansas, and The Fine Twine Co. was born. Net wrap had been around since 1986 but was just hitting its stride when the major equipment makers began building it into their balers. Tony saw the opportunity early. More than twenty years later, we've grown into a full-line hay and forage supplier trusted by ranchers and farmers across the region.

Why Buy Local Instead of Through the Big Dealers?

The John Deere, AGCO, and Case IH dealer networks all sell net wrap and twine, but they source their product overseas. The Fine Twine Co. produces its own net wrap right here in the United States. When you dial 866.999.1006, you reach someone who has run a baler.

American-Made

We manufacture our own net wrap in the U.S. instead of importing it from overseas.

Tighter Quality Control

Testimonials

What Hay Producers Say About Fine Twine

We switched to Fine Twine net wrap three seasons ago and have not had a single roll break on us. Tony knows what he is selling because he is out there baling the same as we are.
Dan Vander ZwaagCow-calf operation, Rock Valley, IA
I called at 6:30 in the morning with a baler down and had teeth in my hands the same afternoon. That kind of turnaround is worth more than a few cents a roll.
Marv TimmermansHay producer, Luverne, MN
The hay knife has changed how we feed. No unrolling frozen bales, no waste. My hired man asked for a second one so he would quit borrowing mine.
Kelly BrunstingFeedlot, Mitchell, SD
Their twine runs clean through our small square baler all day long. We used to fight knots every load with the cheap stuff.
Randy HoekstraSmall square hay, Alton, IA
Rick walked our fields with us before we bought a single bag of alfalfa seed. Third cutting told us he had us in the right variety.
Aaron FeekesAlfalfa grower, Columbus, NE
American-made matters to us. Same price as the imported net wrap at the dealer and the roll actually holds tension to the very end.
Curt EilersCustom baling, Garden City, KS
Bought bale skis and quit replacing chamber parts every other year. Simple fix that paid for itself in one season.
Justin RoelofsRound bale operation, Aberdeen, SD
Our silage film sealed tight through a wet fall and the feed came out of the pile smelling right. No spoilage on the shoulders.
Wade KonynenbeltDairy, Sioux Center, IA
You call and a person picks up who can actually answer the question. That is getting rare in ag supply.
Doug WhitmerCattle and hay, Yankton, SD
The moisture meter keeps us from baling too tough. We bale sooner, lose less leaf, and the hay tests better every year.
